Our Technology in London Cabs Engine Systems

 

 

 

  • The Gastech system is one of the most advanced system in introducing gas into an engine.

 

 

  • The technology is described as "Electronically controlled sequential fuel injection". The system is designed to be demand driven not supply driven.

 

 

  • This allows the gas system to regulate the input of gas to the needs of the load and conditions of the engine at any one point. Unlike a supply system, that adds gas according to the throttle position.

 

 

  • The timing of the diesel injectors (known as the 'pulse width signal') is sent to the gas injectors mounted into the common rail "inlet manifold". This allows the gas to be added to each cylinder in time with the piston (suction stroke) giving the maximum efficiency of gas used. 

 

 

  • Diesel ignites by compression only. This is like adding a "spark-plug" per cylinder into the engine. Because the compression ratio of the gas engine is much lower than the original diesel fuelled engine the stresses on the engine are lower making for longer engine life.

 

  • The vehicle drives like a car not a truck.

 

  • Response to throttle pressure is immediate and allows for more efficient use of the gears.

 

  • The resulting fuel efficiency gives increased fuel savings in the region of 15-40% over the diesel engine equivalent.

EURO Emission V Standard Engines are now available for London Black Cabs

 

  • A WORLD FIRST achievement for Gastech with their successful EURO V engine, which has surpassed all of the rigorous testing procedures undertaken at the famed United Kingdom Millbrook Emissions Testing Centre. 

 

  • This Gastech engine is specifically designed for the London Black Cabs or vehicles fitted with the NISSAN NAVARA TD 27 (2.7ltr) diesel engine. This engine is capable of operating on 100% LPG and can be switched to Automotive Petroleum if ever required.

 

  • This engine has met the current EURO V emission standards and is ready to take on and meet higher emission world standards.

 

  • This highly fuel-efficient engine has practical application in the densely populated taxicab markets around the world, particularly in London - for the Black Cab fleets.
